"GRASS"
I was out photographing one evening and found a perfect place to hide and photograph several species of
birds that repeatedly perched on the same leafless bush. Unfortunately I arrived a bit late and all my
photographs turned out blurry. What really annoyed me was that before leaving for Fitzroy Crossing I wrote out
a comprehensive list of things to take. It worked well except that I forgot to add toolbox and tripod to the list. As I
was walking out the door Sarah asked: "Aren't you going to take your toolbox?" When in fact what she should
have said was:"Aren't you going to take your tripod and your toolbox?" but she didn't. Needless to say I was
disappointed with the results of this photographic expedition.

Being a genius I figured I could return to this spot in the morning before breakfast and catch the birds with the
morning sun shining on them. The birds forgot to mention that they didn't hang out on these branches in the
morning! I was spewing! I gave up and began heading for the car. Only by accident I noticed the sun shining on
this grass stem and  immediately knew I had a good photograph.

I can take away two lessons from this experience, one as a photographer and one for life in general. In many
instances the plans I have made in my mind turn out totally different to what God intends for me. I have often
felt disappointed or even spewing when what I thought were great plans turn out as failures. I think I need to
think carefully about my response in these  situations. If I pack up my gear in disgust and go back to the hotel
room I miss other fantastic opportunities. God has exciting plans for us, sometimes they are hidden in the
failures along the way. I wasn't disappointed when I returned for breakfast that morning.

GOD BLESS
